Mele F10 Deluxe Remote Control Review

When it comes to consuming media in the living room, the remote is our best friend but not all remotes have a lot of functions so we end up cluttering our living room with a ton of remotes to control our various devices.

The Mele F10 Deluxe has a number of features. Besides it being a remote, it also has a QWERTY keyboard and a wireless mouse. This gives the user tremendous amount of control and besides the things I have listed, the Mele F10 still has other functions so let’s take a closer look.

Mele F10 Deluxe Review – Whats in the Box?

Right when you open the packaging, you’ll instantly find the remote covered in tight plastic most likely to protect it from dust.

When you lift the black cardboard where the remote is resting, you’ll find a standard micro-USB cable for charging the device.

Next is the USB adapter which will be used to connect the Mele F10 to the computer.

And lastly, at the bottom is the user’s manual for the device.

Mele F10 Deluxe Review – Give You Back Control

The Mele F10 Deluxe is an upgrade of its older version with the same name except without the word ‘deluxe’ on it.

The amount of buttons of the new Mele F10 is the same compared to its old version. However, the buttons have been reorganized.

At the front of the device, you have some self-explanatory buttons. You have some media buttons which includes a play/pause and rewind/fast forward buttons. It even has a mute button. Some of these buttons were in the Mele F10 pro but the buttons were awkwardly placed. The original Mele F10 and Mele F10 pro did not have these so it’s nice for these essential buttons to be added for a media controller.

There’s also a game mode button, my box button, STB and the TV button.

At the back you’ll find a full QWERTY keyboard on the Mele F10 Deluxe. A nice touch of this keyboard is they added a left click and back button. This would make it easy to select and go back without having to use the d-pad.

I also really like the internal rechargeable battery. I don’t like having to go buy batteries. It’s such a hassle to go to the store and if you forget to buy or you used up all your extras, it’s time consuming. I would rather have my device be rechargeable.

So what else is new in the Mele F10 Deluxe? Well one of the main differences is that the new version has a “game controller mode” but quite frankly, I’d rather use a dedicated game controller if I want to play.

There’s also a learning function for other IR remotes. The Mele F10 Deluxe is able to learn from other infrared remote which basically means that the Mele F10 Deluxe is able to copy buttons from the other remotes and then map it on its own customizable buttons.

How to Use Learning Mode

Before you get your Mele F10 Deluxe to learn the buttons of your other remotes you have to know which buttons can be mapped.

The four bottom buttons of the remote as well as the power button can’t be mapped. Besides that, all the other buttons can.

First you have to press and hold the TV button on the Mele F10 Deluxe to enter learning mode. Red LEDs will start flashing slowly.

Then Press the A.I. Power button and the LEDs will start flashing fast

You can now press the button on the other remote and point the tip of the remote on the Mele F10 Deluxe. The LEDs will now flash slowly.

Now press the TV button again to exit learning mode. The LED will stop flashing

The buttons feel nice which hints that it has good quality. You might struggle with the keyboard if you have bigger fingers. You might end up pressing other keys but it’s better than having no actual keyboard so I have no complaints there.

As I’ve said before, I like the rechargeable battery but to add to that, the battery drains slowly as well. It takes several days before I charge it again. Also, if you don’t use it as much, obviously it will last a lot longer.

This is a really great air-mouse. Sure it doesn’t stand out but a device should make your life easier and this thing does it job really well.
