Lately, ASUS ROG released their newest gaming motherboard and this is the Strix B360-F Gaming. It is also the second B360 Intel motherboard that’s been introduced to us.
The ASUS ROG Strix B360-F Gaming gives us an updated design compared to their earlier motherboards; and aside from its excellent performance, ASUS claims that the most notable elements of this device include the onboard M.2 heatsink, pre-mounted I / O shield, and its uniquely designed cut.
Today, we’re going to check out what the ROG Strix B360-F has in store for you: if its features are good, performance is adequate for your needs, and if it’s something worth adding to your rig. First up, let’s take a look at what’s included inside the package of this ROG motherboard from ASUS.
Asus ROG Strix B360-F Gaming Review – What’s in the Box?
The ASUS ROG Strix B360-F Gaming board is set in a simpler and cleaner-looking package but the company still managed to keep it nice and eye-catching. Plus, we already expected to see this design from ASUS since this theme has been a trend even for their recent offerings.
It comes in a sleek black box with the image of the device on it. Aside from the image of the motherboard, you will also find all the necessary features and important notes about the Strix B360-F Gaming board.
When you look inside the box, you will see the ASUS ROG Strix B360-F Gaming board, as well as other accessories such as the RGB extension cables, four SATA cables, and a set of zip ties. Asus ROG Strix B360-F Gaming Review
As we previously mentioned, the ROG Strix B360-F Gaming is an ATX-sized motherboard. So, you’ll be able to install this to any full or mid tower case. It also comes with a pre-mounted I/O board so you won’t have to worry about fitting a metal plate right at the back of it. Plus, it will also give you a dash of vibrant RGB lights to stylize and add hints of color to your PCs interiors.
If you plan to add a lot of expansion cards, then you’re all good since the Strix B360-F Gaming has got you covered.
This motherboard has four DDR-4 DIMM slots available to support up to a total of 64 GB RAM at the highest speed of 2,666 MHz. It isn’t really that fast but it is surely more than enough for you and other PC builders to be able to fulfill all gaming tasks with ease. Thing is, just make sure that you don’t couple it with a RAM that is much faster since you won’t be able to take advantage of what the Strix B360-F Gaming board can offer.
Now for its storage, the Strix B360-F is something that’s well-equipped. You are given an Intel Optane Memory support, a total of six SATA ports for the classic 2.5-inch SSDs, as well as two M.2 sockets for the NVMe SSDs. This includes a detachable heatsink to keep one of these cool.
Additionally, the Strix B360-F Gaming also offers you a ton of internal fan headers – a total of two for this CPU, an AIO water pump connector, and three more for extra chassis fans. If that is not enough for your needs, then there even is an extension fan header too.
The ASUS ROG Strix B360-F Gaming board supports a variety of processors such as the 8th generation Intel Core processors, Celeron processors, and the Socket LGA-1151. It utilizes the Intel B360 chipset and its form factor is an ATX. Power phase is 10 + 2.
This device has a frequency of 2,666 MHz and features four DIMM, non-ECC slots. Its total capacity is 64GB and has dual channels included. The device has onboard integrated graphics processor and an AMD 3-way Cross Fire X Technology.
The ROG Strix B360-F comes with six SATA III 6GB/s ports, as well as 2 M.2 sockets with M keys. This supports the different types of SSDs such as the 2242, 2280, and 2260.
One slot of the Strix B360-F Gaming motherboard supports only PCIe 3.0 x4 devices, while the other supports both PCIe 3.0 x2 and the SATA. You will also find two USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, and four USB 2.0 Type-A ports, which are all on the rear panel.
There is also one internal USB 3.1 Gen 1 connector that supports an additional two ports, and one internal USB 2.0 connector that supports an additional two USB 2.0 ports.
Network connectivity is attained with the use of the Intel I219V Gigabit LAN port. If you’re planning to expand your system with PCIe, the ROG Striz B360-F has sufficient PCIe slots for this. Support for built-in Intel HD graphics comes with the HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-D outputs.
The HDMI port supports resolutions as high as 4096 x 2160 at 24Hz. For the DisplayPort, the maximum resolution that it supports is 4096 x 2304 at 60Hz. The DVI-D port supports 1920 x 1200 resolutions at 60Hz. For its protection, it is backed by a limited 3-year warranty.
Let’s focus on the features of the ROG Strix B360-F and see if it’s something that you’d want to add to your gaming rig.
The Cyber Outlook
When you look at the heatsinks of the ROG Strix, you’ll see its distinct sleek cuts that are now fashioned with innovative cyber-text patterns. The company specifically fused numerous gaming cultures to establish a distinct identity for this specific generation. It’s not just all about looks because the brand-new ROG Strix B360-F is crafted with tough and durable materials, as well as metallic heatsinks, giving the device a more premium look.
If you’re into the whole PC do-it-yourself thing, then you’ll greatly enjoy working with the Strix B360-F. This is because you’ll be given the freedom to actually select all the parts that will go into your machine. This is the reason why ROG Strix goes through a comprehensive certification program that is focused on giving you the best compatibility with a wide range of devices and components.
ASUS does have a long list of compatible components and it’s a valuable aid when it comes to building a good ROG gaming rig. It’s really convenient since it details a wide array of compatible parts; plus, it also includes a dedicated QVL or Qualified Vendors List for the memory. This is so you can easily create and move on to the fun.
The wizard in EZ mode makes it easier for you to work on setting the basics like the date and time. It will allow you to manage more detailed settings like SATA port identification and fan profiles. For advanced users, you can also manage and control the UEFIs Advanced options and have full control over your settings.
What’s great about the advanced mode is that it lets you control every aspect of the Strix B360-F motherboard; and for added convenience, it also features the integrated Search function that lets you quickly and easily find your required settings.
Improved DDR-4 Stability
ASUS Opti-Mem maintains the integrity of memory signal by routing vias and traces to the optimal layer of the PCB. For its T Topology trace layout, it guarantees proper time-aligned signaling by adjusting the trace lengths between the memory slots.
These improvements allow the Strix B360-F to support a variety of quad and dual DIMM memory kits while simultaneously offering your rig with all the stability needed to deal with any kind of workload.
Dual 3.0 PCIe M.2
The ROG Strix B360-F from ASUS is integrated with an effective M.2 heatsink that gives you an eye-catching ROG logo and stylish finish. With the available huge cooling surface, the M.2 adequately cools the added M.2 SSD to help deliver regular reliability and performance. The Strix B360-F also features two 3.0 PCIe M.2 slots for increased storage and support for the configurations of the NVMe SSD.
The Cooler Design
The ROG Strix B360-F features the most innovative cooling controls that you’ll ever find. These can be managed and controlled using the Fan Xpert 4, or the UEFI BIOS. Each of the headers can be set to monitor and will respond to three-user thermal sensors that can easily be configured. This is generally cooling for a variety of workloads.
With the company’s AI Suite-3 you’ll be able to boost your rig’s gaming performance to the max to get all the gaming thrills and fun. It features a dashboard- like control panel to let you easily fine-tune a lot of elements of your Strix B360-F. Increased Throughput & Improved Surge Protection
The LANGuard allows you to have a safer and more dependable connection for your gaming moments. The premium surface mounting and advanced signal coupling technology joins forces to safeguard your Strix B360-F’s connection. It will also help deliver improved throughput along with electrostatically protected components for greater tolerance to static electricity and higher protection from surges.
Intel B360 Chipset
The Intel B360 is placed at the center of the Intel 300 series chipset stack; this is aimed mostly for building a system that is mainly for business, hence the “B” in the names of the models. The makers of this motherboard have done things to make this product provide high-end performance.
The primary restriction that most builders may want to know about this chipset is that it doesn’t support multiplier-unlocked overclocking. This means that you will not be able to overclock using the multiplier, but you can still use a K-type processor.
